Lucretius waited for Nestor to pass before beginning. First he collected each word that Nestor had spoken during his life. Next he collected each word Nestor had written during his time on earth. Finally he searched the world over for each word that had been written about his life and acts. Ultimately, Lucretius amassed an archive comprised of all the words born because of Nestor. As soon as his archive was complete he set it ablaze. All temporal records of the life of Nestor were destroyed. These words-my words, unfortunately, cannot be burned.
