LUMINOUS THEOPHANY

Lucretius appeared suddenly as a streak of light. Diderot was washing his dinner dishes under the light of a single bulb in his hovel one minute, and the next instant light was flooding through him inside and out. Lucretius was not so much passing the torch as marking Diderot as his chosen one. This was the day Diderot began his archive.

So it goes.
