When Lucretius was a young archivist, he organized his files into two categories: Armed and Unarmed. After a year of collecting he saw that his “armed” file was ten times larger than his “unarmed” file. This should not be,” he thought; “The unarmed is more worthy of remembrance whilst the armed is justified only so that the unarmed might live and grow”. It was then that he truly began to doubt his ability to be The Archivist, par excellence. Years later he looked back on his own history and wished he had been more honest with himself at this crossroads. “If only I had know it was a crossroads,” he sighed.
